Flood Puppy
Too cute for words!
On the night of March 11, 1995 in Watsonville, Calif., the Pajaro River is cresting at flood stage. Then the Watsonville Fire Department receives a call about a homeless man drowning at a riverside shanty. Bay NewsVideo's Mark "Mr. News" Jeannette arrives with the fire department and records the scene as firefighter/diver Jerry Glass braves the raging river and starts searching for the person reported to be calling for help.
Make that a yelp. The diver emerges with a nearly drowned 4-week-old puppy. He's revived with oxygen and warm lights and whisked off to the vet. Bay NewsVideo follows up two days later and learns the dog is alive and well. He is eventually adopted out to a friend. Buddy now loves water.
