BayNewsVideo assisted recently in coverage of yet another incident of the earth moving on Mount Soledad.
As reported on SignOnSanDiego the earth gave way in the evening hours of Jan. 29, forcing the evacuation of residents of two homes.
Cause of the slide is a matter of debate. City officials say the slide was the result of the recent storms saturating the ground. Residents blame a drainage problem caused by the city.
As the Union-Tribune's Rob Krier reports, this much is certain: "The slide, estimated at about 1,000 cubic yards, then moved down the canyon and uprooted a large palm tree, crumpled a metal storage shed and wiped out a chicken coop."
