BayNewsVideo was there when a small plane crashed on a golf course in Carlsbad on Sept. 22 with two men onboard, providing footage to local Web sites and broadcast news media outlets of the rescue effort by emergency crews.
Above, an emergency worker is shown inspecting the wreckage of a single-engine Cessna 152 that had been rented in Long Beach, according to news reports.
According to one account on SignOnSanDiego.com, golfers who were playing rounds on the Carlsbad-owned course The Crossings helped pull the two men from the two-seat plane following the crash in a nearby ravine.
The pilot of the plane was reportedly practicing a touch-and-go manuever from McCelellan-Palomar Airport, a common attempt by those seeking to keep their piloting skills sharp.
Witnesses told reporters that the plane hit near the 16th hole a short distance away.
The men onboard, ages 21 and 18, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of fractures and cuts. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
