Tierrasanta rescue

San Diego news and video production company BayNewsVideo provided coverage of a potentially fatal car crash and subsequent rescue.

The incident involved a woman, 19, whose name was not immediately available. She struck a tree while driving in Tierrasanta, allegedly en route home from a weekend night of drinking while in Tijuana.

The woman's mother was arrested at the crash scene on suspicion of public intoxication after allegedly striking a police officer, authorities said.

The young woman had been in Tijuana drinking with friends, authorities said. The woman was driving a 2005 Mitsubishi eastbound in the 10800 block of Montego Drive at about 10:35 p.m. Saturday. She lost control and crashed into a tree.

The woman's injuries were extensive. She was trapped in the vehicle for half an hour as firefighters worked to rescue her.
