San Diego news and video production company BayNewsVideo provided coverage of a plane crash to local television, radio and web clients after the craft struck power lines and ended up on the streets of Oceanside.
The Cessna 170 was on a flight out of Gillespie Field with two people aboard and northbound when it reportedly encountered engine trouble.
The plane struck power lines less than a mile from the Oceanside Municipal Airport, authorities said, coming down near the intersection of Mission Avenue and state Route 76 .
One of the occupants escaped the wreckage on his own, but a second person was trapped until being rescued by firefighters, BayNewsVideo's Mark Jeannette reports.
Both were taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla by helicopter.
The impact of the crash damanged a sewage pumping, resulting in effluent spewing near the wreckage, Jeannette said.
Witnesses reported the plane's engine was torn from the fuselage and landed a short distance from the plane.
County crews were sent to check out the sewage pumping station, while the cause of the crash is under investigation by federal aviation authorities.
