Quake rolls through Central Coast:

SANTA CRUZ, CALIF. - When a 5.4 earthquake hit near Santa Cruz County around 7:10 a.m. on Aug. 12, Bay NewsVideo's Mark "Mr. News" Jeannette swung into action. With an expert ear to the company's multitude of police and fire radio scanners, he learned a Scotts Valley man had been injured falling from a ladder after the temblor.

Mr. News was the only local member of the news media to capture the man's arrival by ambulance at Dominican Hospital. The video, recorded on Bay NewsVideo's Betacam SP equipment, aired on newscasts in Salinas, San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland, on a total of seven television stations. Another example of the company's ability to respond with lightning swiftness to any emergency.

The quake's epicenter was along the San Andreas Fault seven miles south/southeast of San Juan Bautista, San Benito County.
